(This recipe has all the components of lasagna, but takes a lot less time to prepare.)
Basic Meat Sauce (1lb ground beef, ½ lb sausage, 1 medium diced onion, 2-3 cloves garlic, 2 jars spaghetti sauce)
Mostacciolii or Penne Pasta (1 lb box)
Salt to taste
Mozzarella Cheese – 1 lb (shredded)
1. Brown the ground beef, sausage, onion, salt and garlic. Pour off fat and liquid.
2. Add spaghetti sauce to meat mixture and simmer about 10 minutes.
3. Bring water to boil in large pot (add salt) and cook pasta. Drain.
4. Spoon noodles onto plate, cover with sauce and mozzarella cheese (cheese will melt in the hot sauce or you can put it in the microwave for about 30 seconds)
NOTE:
A. If you want to make this a casserole, put the noodles in a baking dish, cover with sauce and add mozzarella cheese. Bake 25-30 minutes on 350?.
B. This recipe will serve a large group of people easily – increase your ground beef by a pound, increase the sausage to a 1 lb, add a couple more jars of spaghetti sauce and one more box of pasta.
Serve with a salad and garlic bread.
Paula Deen’s Garlic Cheese Biscuits
1¼ cup biscuit mix
½ cup sharp cheddar cheese (shredded)
½ cup water
1. Pre-heat oven to 400?. Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper.
2. Add biscuit mix and cheese in a small bowl. Add water and stir to combine. The dough will be slightly moist. NOTE: I added a teaspoon of garlic powder and a bit more cheese to the recipe.
3. Drop dough by tablespoonfuls onto cookie sheet.
4. Bake 10 minutes until biscuits are firm and beginning to brown.
While the biscuits are baking, make the garlic butter.
